Three-dimensional adult garden with centrepiece pond and natural planting
The owners of a smart, refurbished house wanted their garden to reflect the modern, open plan interior of their home. A crisp, split-level garden was designed, based on overlapping linear geometry, set at 45 degrees to create the impression of space. Glass sliding doors from the lounge look out onto a reflective pond, crossed with ‘floating’ slate stepping-stones. The dining area is paved in Welsh Slate and a framework of contemporary, Blanc de Bierges concrete paving, which pulls the garden together. Rectangular plinths of box hedging echo the geometry of the garden and are softened with grass and perennial planting in whites, enhanced with splashes of purple and blue.
