Shabby chic garden for Vicatorian villa in Surrey
A busy professional couple wanted a classic, formal garden to chill in and to echo the décor of their Victorian villa. Box hedging, lollipops, vibrant planting and a summerhouse were a must.
Offset, balanced symmetry gives pace, balance and a fresh twist to traditional symmetrical formality. A raised perspective pond is visible from inside the house, strengthens the central axis and draws the eye the length of the garden across a runner and carpet of lawn. Hedging, topiary, ornamental trees, ferns and grasses provide an evergreen framework for rich oranges and purples giving way to distant whites and cornflower blue to pick up the colour of the summerhouse.
