"Designed for a young couple, this bare city roof space was transformed into a stunning contemporary terrace" The English Garden
The owners of this city roof garden wanted to extend their living space and create a safe play space for their young children to play. The design has nautical overtones with a deck, and joists, which creak like a masthead and support shade sails, which can be hoisted and lowered. A cosy seating area nestles in planting. A built in bench opens to provide storage space for small tools and toys. Grasses, perennials, lavenders and spring bulbs are contained in a network of containers, concealed under aggregate. Olive trees, Phormiums and Bamboos emerge from galvanized steel containers and aromatic herbs spill from a raised planting bed by the kitchen. Bespoke rectangular trellis allows planting to scramble over the walls of the apartment.
